So, one of our clients just had a big win at Infocomm. For those in the know, Infocomm is the show for digital signage and the information communications marketplace. Our client, Peerless-AV is a simply amazing company that dominates the flat panel mount market and brings fantastic A/V products to market like the HD Flow wireless multi-media kit and pro-grade audio cables and a whole lot more. (Right now, my competitors will be calling to see if they can shoe-horn in on my client, they really are that cool.) So, Peerless-AV came out with another ground-breaking product, a full service video wall mount system that got the nomination for best of show.
But unlike previous years, a new wrinkle was added to the ‘best-in-show’ competition. The nominees had to provide a parody video. A parody of a beloved infomercial/commercial. Something to get the attendees at the show engaged. But it didn’t end there. Each nominee would have a kiosk at their booth where show attendees could vote on the video AND make their own video response. So, in addition to creating a winning product, Peerless-AV was expected to make a really, really funny viral video – all on a shoestring budget and within a week.
The good news was – the client already knew what they wanted to make fun of – the question was: How to do it well, really sell Peerless-AV at the same time and avoid being just a rip off of the original material. To do this, we created a delightful mash up of everything that needed poking fun at. And we did it from concept to final files in less than a week.
And Peerless-AV swept the awards. Now, a self-measuring video wall mount is awfully cool, and let’s be honest, would have probably won anyways. But it sure is fantastic to capture the buzz at the trade show and drive ongoing excitement with viral video.
Here’s the video for the winning product:
